3. Is there a Sunday School class for me?

We have a full range of children’s Sunday School and adult Bible Study Fellowship classes to meet the needs of every person who comes to FBT. There are classes for young children, teens, young married couples, parents with children still at home, empty nesters, senior saints, single adults, or single again. Regardless of where you are in life, there’s a place for you here.

4. What opportunities do you have for children?

Our children’s Sunday School program incorporates times of fun and games with teaching from God’s Word and scripture memorization. During our Sunday morning service, children in 1st – 6th grades participate in their own Children's Church that includes a time of music and preaching geared towards their age group. On Wednesday nights, children in grades K4 – 6th grade participate in our FBTkids program and enjoy a time of fun and scripture memorization. A very active Teen Group also has its own meetings on Sunday mornings and Wednesday evenings. See elsewhere on these pages for more details that show there’s no lack of opportunity for your children at FBT!

5. What opportunities do you have for adults?

With over fifty areas of service available, there’s something for everyone at FBT. You can sing in the choir, play in the orchestra, serve as an usher or greeter, join us on weekly visitation, care for babies in the nursery, teach a Bible Study Fellowship class, serve coffee on Sunday mornings, work in the bookstore, run the lights, sound, or video during a service, work a security detail, serve on a grass cutting team, plant flowers, decorate the church, serve in special events and prepare meals, go to a shooting range with other men, enjoy the fellowship of other women. And lots more! See greater detail elsewhere on these pages.

6. What’s your nursery like?

At FBT our desire is to do things decently and in order. This principle extends to our nursery where our goal is to provide a safe, comfortable, and loving environment for your child. Age-specific rooms are now divided among babies and toddlers. Security is a top priority. Parents dropping off their children will utilize the check-in process and receive a pager and a security code label. Your child’s name label including any special instructions (allergies, dietary restrictions, etc.) will be placed on their back. When you return to pick up your child, your security code label will be matched with the code on their name label prior to check-out. Security teams constantly patrol our nursery and children’s area.

7. What’s the Sunday morning schedule like?

Sunday morning begins with Bible Study Fellowship classes at 9:00 a.m. Be sure to arrive a few minutes early and enjoy a fresh cup of coffee in the main lobby or downstairs near our adult classrooms. Classes end at 9:45 a.m. as people make their way to the auditorium for our 10:00 a.m. service.

8. How should I dress?

There’s no specific dress code. However, we believe that the Bible teaches a principle of modesty. You’ll find most people wear more traditional Sunday dress when they attend our services, but come as you are and we will be sure to make you feel welcome.

9. Where should I park?

Visitor parking is available at the front of the building near the entrance to our children’s wing. Drive up Missionary Lane toward the main church entrance and turn left. You’ll see signs indicating Visitor Parking located on the light posts.

10. What are your accommodations for the disabled?

We have designated handicapped parking along the front of our building next to the sidewalk as well as down in our lower level parking near the Academy entrance. All of our facilities are handicap accessible and there is an elevator for those who need to go between our upper and lower levels.

11. What are the services like?

Our desire is to honor the Lord with worship services that give glory and praise to Him. You will find our services full of uplifting music accompanied by a piano and partial orchestra, with traditional hymns and praise songs, choir and orchestra specials, soloists and special groups. There’s always a time of announcements, an offering, plus occasional times of special recognition, baby dedications or special awards. Everything is done to prepare hearts for the preaching of God’s Word by the pastor or any number of guest speakers we host throughout the year.

12. Will I be singled out during the service?

Our desire is never to embarrass anyone! If you’re a guest, you’ll simply be asked to fill out the connection card inside our church bulletin so that our Pastor can send you a note or give you a call.

13. Am I expected to give money during the offering?

We practice the Biblical principle of Stewardship by the giving of tithes and offerings. However, as a visitor we don’t expect you to participate. Our desire is for the Lord to speak to your heart and for our service to be a blessing and encouragement to you.

14. Where can I get information about your Christian school?

If you visit on a Sunday or Wednesday, we will be happy to provide you with some general information about our Academy or put you in touch with someone who could answer a few questions. During the week, you are welcome to contact the Academy office to schedule a meeting with our Academy Administrator. More information can also be found elsewhere on these pages or at our Academy website.

15. How can I get a copy of a sermon?

Sermon CD orders can be placed at the conclusion of our Sunday services and will be ready for pick up the following Sunday. You can also listen to our sermons online at our website.

16. I’m new and would like to know more about FBT. How can I learn more?

If you’re a visitor to Fairfax Baptist Temple or have been coming for a while and would like to learn more about our ministry, we periodically conduct an Intro to FBT class that meets for six weeks during our regular Bible Study Fellowship hour on Sundays at 9:00 a.m. The class is limited in size to provide for discussion and is taught by our Pastor and other men in the church. It covers our church history, constitution, ministries, spiritual gifts, and ways that you can get involved in the ministry here.

17. Do you support missionaries?

Absolutely! We believe that the heartbeat of the local church is missions and church planting. We aim to Exalt the Lord, Evangelize the World, Edify the Learner and our vision is expressed through the support of almost 300 missionaries around the world. We hold an annual Missions Conference in April, and the first Wednesday of each month is reserved for a missionary speaker during our evening service. We have also sent out church planters all over America.

18. Do you have a Spanish outreach?

Our Hispanic ministry – Templo Bautista de Fairfax – is led by Pastor Jack Ramos. TBF meets each Sunday in the Auditorium and Wednesday in our lower level Fellowship Hall. Bible Study Fellowship classes for all ages, a nursery, children’s programs, and activities for the entire family are available from the “church within a church.”

19. How can I get involved at FBT?

The first step is to be faithfully attending and having joined Fairfax Baptist Temple as a church member. Then, seek to utilize your spiritual gifts in our many areas of ministry. Feel free to speak to the Pastor or any ministry leader about what interests you and where you’d like to get plugged in. There’s something for everyone to do here and our desire is to encourage you in your walk with the Lord by your service to Him.
