Elected as Pastor of Fairfax Baptist Temple when his father and founder of the church, Bud Calvert, retired in 2006. For 18 years prior to his appointment to the new post, Troy was pastor of the Hispanic church within FBT, founded by him shortly after he graduated from Bob Jones University in 1988 where he earned a BA in Christian Missions and in 1998, a Master of Ministry degree. A fluent Spanish-speaker, the rapid growth of Templo Bautista de Fairfax ensured that he never got to the foreign mission field! He shares with his father the same ministry verse, 1 Corinthians 2:4, “And my speech and my preaching was not with enticing words of man’s wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power.”
Pastor Bud Calvert and his wife Mary started Fairfax Baptist Temple in 1970. He served as Pastor of FBT for thirty-five years before stepping down in 2006 and turning the church over to his son Troy after the nearly unanimous vote of the congregation. Bud Calvert now serves as Pastor Emeritus and travels throughout the United States and around the world preaching in missions conferences, helping to start churches, encouraging missionaries and Pastors, and training men who are preparing for the ministry. As founder of the International Conference on World Evangelism, he is working to turn the hearts of preachers, young and old, toward church planting and world evangelism. Bud and Mary have been married for nearly fifty years and share their time between Fairfax, Virginia and Lakeland, Florida. One of their greatest joys is being grandparents to Raquel, Nate, David, and Julia.

Prior to joining FBT, Jack served at the U.S. Department of Justice as an investigative specialist in the Office of the Inspector General, and he also spent four years as an Operations Specialist aboard the USS San Jacinto visiting twenty-five countries during that time. He enjoys relaxing with his family, traveling throughout Northern Virginia, and visiting museums.
